Formula Student is the ultimate educational motorsport event, where top teams worldwide push the limits in car development, project management, and cutting-edge engineering. While competitions highlight their achievements, the demand for expert insights is constant. That’s why the Audi Hungaria Faculty of Automotive Engineering at Széchenyi István University hosts the Formula Student Symposium, featuring elite speakers from the world of motorsport.

I was tasked with creating the event’s centerpiece promotional film, set to be a major highlight both online and offline. This film had to be nothing short of spectacular—combining innovative visuals, dynamic energy, and cutting-edge technical flair, all while seamlessly integrating the powerful themes of our speakers.

Scope

The video was designed to function as both a recruitment tool and a teaser, highlighting the deep technical expertise and commitment behind the event. It transitions from a polished “exhibition” setting to a more technical “garage” scene, where the focus shifts to showcasing the engineering skills and knowledge that power the event.

The Best Racecar

A procedural scale effect quickly and visually showcases the car’s creation, revealing the numerous designed components and the structure’s complexity. This approach highlights the intricate engineering in a powerful and engaging way.

Transition

The car’s constant and steady presence, alongside the changing environment and lighting, clearly shows how it links the visible results with the behind-the-scenes complexity. This makes the final product visible to everyone, bridging the gap between the two worlds, audience and designers.

Focus

The presentations by speakers and professional experts bring the technical background to life. Featuring Red Bull drivers, race engineers, and top industry presenters, they highlight the expert support behind the scenes.

Layers

On top of the solid render, which includes lights, reflections, and shadows, a second layer was added with highlights and HUD elements. This approach provided greater freedom and flexibility during color correction and look development.

Highlights

The main areas of expertise were structural design, aerodynamics, powertrain, suspension, and driver development.
